Vietnam- Arrival to Hanoi

This is going to be an initial post. Mikel and myself decided to go travelling through Vietnam and Thailand for a wee 2.5 months (well, he decided, I just followed :P).
We arrived to Hanoi yesterday, after 18 hours of flights (change in Singapur). But I must say that the planes were awsome! You could even choose films, had loads of things to eat during the flight...(well, yes, that's not as cheap as flying with easyjet, is it?).
As I was saying, we got to Hanoi yesterday and decided to take the bus (normal bus, not these micro-master buses where the prize is in dollars). No,no no! We took the one that everyone does take! (ok, yes, we're in a budget here). But was quite good, despite the fact that the driver was always pressing the horn (is that the correct way of saying it??!!)
Hanoi is a full city of chaos, smells and people. People here are very nice, and it is true what they say about "land of smiles" (well, they say that about Thailand, but it could be the same for Vietnam!). Traffic in the city is mad. There are about millions of motorbikes, and seems to be quite dangerous when you want to cross the streets, but unexpectedly there are no major accidents in here!. Actually, the first thought when we came to Hanoi was..."I am not crossing that street!"
Once we put ourselves together crossing that street (and after realizing that the vietnamese could do it), we did realize that our vietnam guide book was left in the plane (noooo!), so we had to buy one. A very nice gentleman sold us one (yes, mikel thought it was an original copy of the lonely planet one, but it was really a photocopy) for a very "cheap prize". Well, we were naive...don't we have the right? :-)
Anyway, we're going to Sapa tomorrow. We'll see what happens tomorrow....
